Description
Dog Breed: Hound (short coat). Zander is a 7-8 year-old hound mix who was found roaming in rural Arizona. He was picked up as a stray by animal control and never reclaimed. Zander is such a good boy, and we can’t imagine why no one came for him. Despite spending time on the streets, Zander is house trained with a dog door, and non-destructive in the home. He gets along great with other dogs. Children and cats are unknown. He has nice leash skills and enjoys a 20-minute walk per day. Zander weighs about 52 pounds and could stand to put on a few more pounds. Zander is looking for a home where he can spend his golden years getting regular exercise, regular meals, and a nice soft bed! If you would like to meet Zander, please fill out an application and his foster mom will be in touch. docs.google/.../1SnhudHYFJaPfZyCeKy36.../edit... Zander’s adoption fee is $250.00.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
