Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Jimmy is a little shy at first, but this scruffy boy will melt your heart. He weighs about 40lbs and is about 10 months old. Jimmy has done well with other dogs while in our care. Jimmy is calm and observant, but engages well as he gets comfortable. He wants to please and responds to training. He is cuddly with dogs and people, and a bit of a couch potato! He loves to play and sniff the yard in short bursts and then to chew, snooze or cuddle at length. He has been wary of a few routine things (throwing a ball, humans playing tug with dogs, running the blender or vacuum), but given space to retreat and observe he quickly gains confidence. He looks to both humans and dogs for cues about what is “spooky” and what isn’t. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on heartworm and flea prevention, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $250, apply now at mpravl! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
