Description
Dog Breed: West Highland White Terrier Westie. *** Please note that we are no longer taking applicantions for Lumi. *** Hi there! I’m Lumi, a 6-year-old West Highland White Terrier (aka a "Westie"), and I’m about 26 pounds (but could lose a few LBs) of pure fluff and love. Life recently threw me a curveball — my previous owner had to leave suddenly and could no longer care for me, so now I’m looking for a new home to call my own. That's fine with me though; my home wasn't really up to snuff, if ya know what I mean. Now I’m ready to start a new chapter and find a fur-ever family to call my very own. I’m a sweet, loyal guy who enjoys being part of the action — whether that’s cuddling on the couch, going for walks, or just hanging out nearby while you go about your day. I may be small, but I have a big heart and plenty of love to give. I’m looking for a family that can give me stability, patience, and lots of snuggles. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who’s already weathered a bit of life’s storms (but things are looking up!) and is ready to shine in a loving home, I’m your guy. I can’t wait to meet you and become your newest best friend!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
