Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Bea is a beauty who is looking for a new home. Beau is currently with one of our sister rescues in Louisiana but will be arriving in NJ on 8/23. Bea is sisters with Mazie Marie, who was just adopted by a wonderful family in NJ. She was taken in by our partner rescue and is now doing very well - healthy and happy. She is a sweet girl with some quirky ears! She loves to play with other dogs and she loves to play in her baby pool. She is all around a great pup! Bea is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She will be fixed when she is about 6 months old. Adopters must live within driving distance of Holmdel, NJ. Her adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. Apply to foster or adopt wagoninn.rescuegroups

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
