Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Oklahoma was not ok for Rory and several others pups who were taken from what may have been a backyard breeding program. Now she is here in Connecticut to find a safe haven in a loving forever home and family. Rory is a tiny pup of just 4 pounds and 4 months old so it is expected that she will remain a small dog (10-31 pounds) when she is fully grown. Rory has adorable floppy ears and big brown eyes that tell of her yearning for a lap of love. Rory is ready to make friends with dogs and children. It is not known if she is comfortable with cats. Rory is embarking on her house and leash training. She is a very young pup so consistent, gentle, brief training lessons should be tailored to her youth and size. Puppies and rescue dogs should be expected to have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. If crate training is anticipated, Rory requires a crate that lets her lie down, stand up and turn around. Crates should never be used for punishment, should be warm and cozy dens and Rory should be able to go in and out as she desires during training. If you have room in your heart and home for a little lady who will always be a petite girl with big brown eyes, Rory will be a perfect fit. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Rory is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
