Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Ripley is a 13 year-old, 8-pound sweet old man looking for a quiet, loving home to enjoy his golden years. He prefers a slow, predictable life filled with cozy naps, warm blankets, and calm companionship. Ripley is very attached to routine and thrives when life is peaceful. At home, he's very good about letting his family know when he needs to go outside. Ripley has been crate tested and while he didn't bark, he was extremely nervous during and after being crated, so he prefers a cozy couch. His favorite place in the world is on the couch next to his foster family's resident dog. He would love a resident dog buddy as that makes him feel comfortable and gives him confidence. A proper introduction would be advised with any future cat roommates. Walks aren't really Ripley's thing. He doesn't like walking on the leash, so he does better when he goes for short walks around the neighborhood. He's also been to brunch at a restaurant several times and is great on the leash at the table. At his future home, a fenced yard will be required so he can relax in the yard and mosey around with his dog buddy. Yard time and mealtime are his absolute favorites. Just mention food and he becomes a little dance machine! Ripley rarely barks – unless he’s dreaming! That’s when he talks in his sleep, which is both hilarious and adorable, especially when he startles himself! Due to his skittish nature, he needs a quiet, kid-free home with a gentle pace. If you have a mellow household and a soft spot for seniors, Ripley might just be your perfect match! Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
