Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. ‘D’ THEMED PUPPY: Approx. 3 months old / Approx. 13 lbs. & growing Hi, I’m Donovan, one of the two darling ‘D’ themed puppies! We came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and are in a great foster home, having fun, playing and learning! Now, we are each ready to find homes of our own to grow up in – so exciting! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like my sibling and am slowly learning to interact with the adult dogs in my foster home, but I’m still learning about our size difference. So, if you have a nice doggie that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I haven’t met kids in my foster home, but I’d likely enjoy them as long as they are gentle with me and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a sweet little mix of drama king and adventurer — my foster says I love to whine and squeal (even when I start the wrestling match)! I’ll bring on the drama, but I’m also the brave one who explores new places; the volunteers at the shelter say that I’m super cuddly and especially curious about beards, and the photographer calls me super cute, playful, and full of energy — plus, if you scoop me up, I’ll rest my head on your shoulder for extra sweetness. / Energy level: currently 5-7, though that could change as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / Crate training is going well in my foster home, and I’ve started to be able to hold it through the night. / I’m working on my potty training in my foster home, but I’m still a baby, so there are accidents, and I’ll need my new family to continue my potty training in our yard. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I get excited playing fetch and tug with my sibling, so give me a ball or a rope, and I’ll stay happily entertained for as long as you’ll play with me or I have another dog friend to play with. / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
