Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Florence is a sweet and sensitive 5-year-old Chihuahua who’s looking for a patient, loving home where she can truly blossom. With her big, expressive eyes and playful spirit, Florence has so much love to give—once she feels safe and secure. She’s potty trained when kept on a regular schedule and is currently being fostered with small dogs of all ages, doing well and even enjoying games of tag with her furry housemates. She especially loves playing with toys—though she’s still learning how to share, so guidance in that area will be important. While Florence can be a bit anxious in a crate at first, she settles in after a few minutes. She also needs slow introductions to new people, but once she trusts you, she becomes your loyal shadow and best buddy. She does bark at things outside, but can easily be redirected with a little attention. Florence is working on basic commands and leash walking, and she's already showing progress. She’s the perfect mix of playful and laid-back—always up for a toy session, but just as happy to curl up and lounge beside you. Due to her history of being abandoned, Florence can display some resource guarding behaviors, so she would do best in a calm, child-free home with someone who understands and respects her need for trust and space.
