Description
Dog Breed: Terrier (short coat). Nick is a-2-year-old male Terrier mix who has already been neutered. Nick is black with white markings on his chest; and he only weighs 22 pounds. You may notice the "nick" in one of the tips of his ear--that's where is name came from. Nick is about the cutest thing you have ever seen; weighing in at only 22 pounds. He is friendly, sweet, and would be good with other dogs and children. Nick is very active and playful. We could only get his pictures facing one direction because he was so frisky and would NOT stand still! Nick would need a nice, securely, fenced yard where he can safely play. Come meet this handsome fellow soon! Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
