Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Location:MD Susie Stumpytail is a Supermodel! This gorgeous, petite gal is 2 years old and weighs just 36 lbs. Susie's previous owner became unable to care for her and her litter of puppies. While a kind neighbor temporarily stepped in to help with basic needs, another rescue took Susie's puppies but left her outside to fend for herself. Fortunately, Susie is as resilient as she is beautiful and has thrived in foster care! True to her cattle dog nature, she bonds deeply with her chosen person and wants to be your shadow, curious about everything you do. This medium-energy adventurer is brave and loves outdoor activities—especially anything involving WATER! Whether it's riding in the car or pond boat, retrieving sticks from the water, or playing an energetic game of "catch me if you can" with her foster dad, Susie is always up for fun. What Makes Susie Special Susie gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love playmates, though her snobby older foster siblings prefer to ignore her and won't let her into their exclusive club! She's already mastered the essentials: house training, doggie door use, leash walking, and good behavior around horses. Being highly food motivated makes her eager to learn, and she's already picked up several behavioral skills with more training easily within reach. With solid recall skills, Susie wouldn't necessarily need a fenced yard. After a day full of adventures, she settles beautifully and loves snuggling with her foster dad. Good to Know Like many cattle dogs, Susie has shown interest in chasing cats but hasn't displayed aggression toward them. While she hasn't been around children in foster care, she would likely do well with them. Susie is spayed, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations and preventatives. Susie's chosen human will be rewarded with a lifetime of devoted companionship! Susie is being fostered in Adamstown, MD. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
