Dog Breed: Parson Russell Terrier / Corgi / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Fergus – or “Gus” to his friends! This 3-year-old Parson Russell Terrier/Corgi mix is full of charm, goofiness, and heart. Gus was found as a stray in Texas, and while he’s still learning the ropes of home life, he’s making great progress every day with patience and consistency. Gus is a happy, affectionate, and playful pup who has no shortage of personality. He’ll keep you laughing with his silly “sploots,” goofy trot around the house, and the thoughtful way he seems to consider whether he wants to do what’s asked. He’s a smart boy with a big heart who just needs guidance to polish up his manners. Gus loves playing outside with his foster siblings, chasing toys, and giving sweet kisses (especially on your neck and ears!). While he’s not a big couch cuddler yet, he likes to be close by and contentedly settles at your feet while you work or relax. Because Gus is still figuring out how to interact appropriately with other pets, he’ll do best in a home with a confident, stable dog companion who can help show him the ropes. He can be a little too playful with cats if they run, so slow introductions and supervision are best. Some of Gus’s best qualities: Crate trained, leash trained, and does well in the car Playful and affectionate, yet fairly quiet overall Intelligent and eager to learn, just needs patience and consistency Goofy antics and adorable short-legged sploots will keep you smiling daily Like many young dogs, Gus is still mastering his potty training and obedience skills, and he’ll thrive with a patient family willing to continue his training and provide plenty of enrichment toys to keep him busy. If you’re looking for a funny, sweet, and endlessly entertaining companion who just needs a little polishing to shine his brightest, Gus may be the one! Fergus is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/6 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 4:30pm-8:00pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
