Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Hi there! My name is Fido I’m 6 months old and weigh about 25 pounds. I absolutely love people including the little ones and I get along great with other dogs. Whether it’s playtime in the yard or a nice run, I’m always excited to join in — but overall I’m a pretty laid-back pup who’s happy just hanging out with my favorite humans and furry friends. I’m also a very good boy — I’m crate trained, knows some basic commands like sit and potty trained using a doggy door! When it comes to toys, I love them all, but chew toys are definitely my favorite. Give me a good chewing bone or an antler and I’ll be one happy pup! My foster mom says I am funny cause I love playing in the water but I dislike bath time. All I want is a family to love and a forever home where I can play, relax, and give lots of tail wags and cuddles. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
