Olive is a 1.5-year-old black Lab mix with the cutest brindle markings on her feet—a little detail that hints at just how special she is. Sweet Olive has spent nearly her entire life waiting for a chance to experience the world beyond shelter walls. Brought in as a young puppy, Olive grew up in the safety of the shelter, but missed out on the little things most dogs take for granted—soft couches, the sound of a TV, a quiet cuddle with someone who loves her. Now, after 1.5 years of waiting, Olive is finally getting her chance and she's blooming. She's learning how to live in a real home, taking in new experiences slowly and at her own pace. Loud TVs and ice makers still make her pause, but this cautious girl is showing more bravery every day. She would do best in a low-key household without much foot traffic, no young children, and lots of patience and treats! Olive is a gentle soul with a huge heart. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and her easygoing nature makes her a sweet companion to everyone she meets. We think Olive would love to live with another well-balanced dog where they could run and play safely in a fenced yard. She wants to connect deeply with people and, once she feels safe, she scoots in close for snuggles—tail wagging, eyes shining. She’s not quite sure how to jump on the couch yet (but give her time!), she is already showing signs of becoming someone’s loyal cuddle buddy. Outside, Olive lights up when she gets to chase her favorite soccer ball. Inside, she sleeps soundly on her cushy bed in her crate. Olive is looking for a patient and loving forever home where she can keep growing in confidence and feel safe being her sweet, sensitive self.
