Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Meet Summer! This beautiful girl came to us as a stray, severely pregnant and in desperate need of help. Thankfully, once she arrived in our care, she was swiftly placed in a loving foster home — and within just 48 hours, she went into labor. It was a long and difficult delivery that ended in heartbreak, as several of her babies didn’t survive. But two precious pups pulled through, and they’ve since found their forever homes. Now, it’s Summer’s turn. At about 2.5 years old and medium-sized, Summer is a nurturing, friendly, and resilient soul. She loves meeting new people and enjoys going for walks. Now that she’s regained her strength and confidence, she’s ready for new adventures — and plenty of couch snuggles too. Summer would thrive as your one and only pet — trust us, with all the love she has to give, you won’t need another! She’s working on her leash skills and basic commands and is so deserving of a forever home where she can finally be spoiled and adored. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
