Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet 3-4 year old Coconut, hes a love bug! We rescued him with a whole crew of little dogs... what could he be mixed with? We'd love to find out his DNA. He’s crate trained, dog friendly, cat friendly, and so far has loved everyone he’s met! He currently wears a belly band to prevent marking, he has no complaints about wearing it and we hope that after he’s neutered he won’t need it anymore. Hes a happy, wiggly little guy that has just stolen our hearts! Apply to foster-to-adopt in the Rochester area (he will be neutered before being officially adopted) Does Coconut sound like a perfect fit for your home? Filling out an adoption application is the first step to meeting him. .graspinc/adopt

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
