Dog Breed: Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: 300.. Little MARA is looking for loving arms and an empty lap. She's an 8 pound mixed breed girl who longs to be cuddled and carried and loved. Darling Mara gave birth to her LAST litter of puppies a little over 2 months ago. She lovingly raised her babies and now she's ready to be cherished. Mara came to the rescue with Mimi, both had been covered in fleas and as a result their coats are a bit sparse but should fill out nicely with proper nutrition and vet care. We believe Mara and Mimi are sisters, both around 4 years old. They appear to be terrier-type mixes, maybe terrier/chihuahua? Whatever the breed mix, they are both adorable. Mara has an adorable little underbite and has the cutest smile. She walks with a slight limp on one of her front legs. Our vet suspects it's either an old injury or a congenital defect. It's nothing that can be repaired and she navigates life just fine. Mara is fine with other dogs and would be okay with another small dog. She'd also be fine as an only dog. She's a quiet little girl who would be fine in a condo or apartment. If you'd like to meet Mara, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Mara at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate if she's still available. All our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.
