Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (medium coat). Charity: Gentle, Smart, and Ready to Belong Charity is a gentle soul with a heart full of love. She’s a calm, affectionate girl who melts under gentle pets and happily soaks up every bit of attention she can get. Charity already knows a few commands—Sit, Paw, and Down—and is motivated by treats, which makes her a quick learner. She enjoys her walks, though her excitement sometimes shows when a squirrel scurries by. Despite that, she’s not reactive to other dogs on walks and doesn’t bark at passing pups, making her a peaceful companion. Charity truly wants love, comfort, and a family to call her own. With her tender spirit and sweet personality, she’s ready to bring warmth and joy into the lives of those lucky enough to adopt her. This shy girl recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out her playgroup video here: To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
