Description
Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever / Mixed. Click the button to download the adoption application. The application is a form-fillable pdf. Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to siangingerspetrescue Hi! My name is Smokey Fox. I’m an 8-month-old Flat-Coated Retriever Mix boy and weigh 50 lbs — handsome, playful, and ready for a new beginning. I’m a local surrender here in Washington. My previous family could no longer keep me, so Ginger’s Pet Rescue stepped in to help me find a loving new home. I’m still young and full of energy, and now I just need a family who will give me the care, patience, and love I deserve as I grow. Every dog may respond differently when settling into a new home, so please give me time, patience, and a gentle routine as I adjust. Adoption Details My adoption fee of $795 is a non-refundable donation that helps save the lives of other dogs in need. It covers my neuter, vaccinations, microchip, routine care to date, and other rescue expenses. A GPS tracker or Apple AirTag is required for all adopted dogs — you can bring your own or purchase one from us. We do not guarantee the breed or age of our dogs. Ginger’s Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and all adoption fees are donations that help more dogs get their second chance. If you think you can open your heart to a very special boy like me, please fill out an adoption or foster application at .gingerspetrescue .

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
