Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog. Rowdy is a spunky little heeler mix with a big personality packed into a small body. He’s a heeler in training—which means he can sometimes be a bit bossy, but it’s all part of his playful and spirited nature. Training: Working on house training, but already crate trained. He’s such a good boy that he even puts himself to bed in his crate at night! Other Pets: Great with dogs (both big and small!) and even cats. Kids: His experience with children is unknown, but given his energetic and sometimes rough play style, a home with older children would be the best fit. Personality: Rowdy is a rough-and-tumble pup who loves to play hard and then settle in when it’s time to rest. Rowdy is looking for a home that understands the energy and intelligence of herding breeds. With continued training, consistency, and lots of love, he’s sure to grow into a loyal, fun, and hardworking companion.

Okie Pet Rescue
okiepetrescuegmail okiepetrescue
An application must be completed and approved after a comprehensive review. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
