Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Nico is 3 and 1/2 yrs old, app 15 lbs, neutered and up to date with all his shots and vaccinations. Owner's position at work has changed, requiring her to now be at work (instead of working from home). This means Nico is now crated far too long each day (5 or 6 days / week), which is why he is being re-homed. Be advised -- on a few occasions -- he has been aggressive (growl and snap but not bite) if someone attempts to take away his food while eating or his toy while playing. He is friendly with people, other dogs and children, but because of his impulse to be aggressive with his property, he would not be a good choice for those with small children. **** Breed: Cockapoodle **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2187315&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
