Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua (medium coat). Chepo is an independent little guy that can be headshy when it comes to leashes and collars, but will happily curl up on the couch alongside the people he's comfortable with. He prefers to keep to himself most of the time, and can be nervous meeting new people, but brightens up a bit while meeting other dogs. OTHER PETS: Chepo got along well with other dogs, but he was happier co-existing alongside them rather than trying to play. He would likely get along best with another relaxed dog that will live alongside him. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone that has positive reinforcement experience with timid dogs would be the best match for Chepo. Once comfortable, Chepo has shown signs of resource guarding in the home. It will be important to work on building trust and using trade exercises to help manage this behavior. [Some Experience] KIDS: Adults only ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mental enrichment and some physical exercise will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato] VETERINARY CARE: Chepo can be stressed during veterinary exams and may benefit from a Fear Free Protocol to help make the experience more relaxing for him.
