Dog Breed: American Bulldog (short coat). Don't forget!! We are currently open by appointment only. This is to control the traffic in the building at one time. If you would like to look at the cats/dogs for adoption, or if you need to relinquish or to do any other business, please message our FB page or call us at 304-267-8389 to schedule an appointment. If you see a specific pet for adoption on our FB page we can always set up a specific meet and greet for that as well. Echo is an American Bulldog, will be 3 years old in October, housetrained, good with kids and other dogs, never been around cats, leash trained and crate trained, has a grain allergy and needs a grain free diet. This boy is something special, and he had the best day out! He was very good with our two year old son being very gentle when taking treats, never rough when they were playing together, and wanted to be his best friend. He will play fetch all day long if you let him!" Adoption fee... $175, cash or credit card, includes spay/neuter, microchip and first shots. If you already have a dog, bring them in with you for a 'meet and greet'. Mon.-Sat. 10-4 We understand not everyone can adopt a pet. Some homes are full, some homes do not allow certain pets and some have lifestyles that can't handle a pet right now. You can still help. Sharing pictures on FB, volunteering, or just coming in and sponsoring part of the adoption fee for when the pet is adopted. This helps a lot. No amount is too small to donate towards the adoption fee. If you would like to help sponsor, speak to one of the staff. Especially the cats and kittens need help (since we usually have so many!) Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Overview:
Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.
