Dog Breed: Bulldog / Mixed. Meet Twinkie – a 4-year-old, 57-pound bulldog mix who’s as sweet and irresistible as her name! With her itty-bitty, stumpy legs (shorter than a shoe!), brindle coat, and squatty, low-rider build, Twinkie has the most unique and endearing look—like a cross between a potbelly pig and a little bulldog. Add in her piggy snorts and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind girl who’s impossible not to love. Twinkie is a staff favorite for good reason: she’s loving, gentle, and always ready to make friends. She adores people, is wonderful with other dogs, and has even lived with dogs before. She enjoys playing but is mostly a low-energy girl who’s just as happy lounging by your side as she is having fun. Food motivated and eager to please, Twinkie already knows how to sit, walks nicely on the leash, and seems to be potty trained. She has the cutest zoomies that will make you laugh every single time, and her sweet, social personality makes her the life of the party wherever she goes This dog was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs. Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive. From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs.
