Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed (short coat). Hanzel is a 2-month-old male Shepherd/ possibly Malinois mix. He was found as a stray and no owner claimed him. Hanzel has a dark brindle coat; and a foxy little head. He will be a large adult dog. Hanzel has a very confident and spunky little character! He prances like a pony; and he appears to be a smart fellow. Hanzel is constantly taking in everything going on around him; and is super alert. He will be good in a home with children and other dogs. Since Hanzel is a puppy, he will need an opportunity to get a lot of exercise and "burn" some energy. We loved watching this little character rip and romp while we made pictures. Hanzel is such a great fellow! Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
