Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyHluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. Regal gentleman looking for a home! RIOT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Riot Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 7 years as of August 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 68 lbs as of August 2025 Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! We do not recommend Riot for a home with cats. Currently Living at: Florida shelter All about Riot: Riot is on the Dogs Playing For Life campus in Florida, awaiting his forever home! This is his story, and what shelter staff say about him: Riot was previously adopted and spent several months in a home that described him as absolutely lovely. Unfortunately, he liked their cats too much and at his size - that is too rough! The family sadly had to return him. Riot is friendly, laid back, and affectionate. He enjoys curling up for a nice snuggly nap, but is also happy to romp and play! He gets along well with most other dogs, but as mentioned above, is looking for a home without cats. Riot has a very solid foundation of obedience skills and has a large repertoire of commands. He's very smart and learns things quickly! He doesn't have a lot of toy drive, but he enjoys a mellow game of tug or fetch. At the shelter, he instantly becomes a cherished favorite of everyone that meets him, thanks to his adorable looks and winning personality. He very much deserves a loving home as he enters the golden phase of his life. He's way, way out of the puppy yips and you know exactly what you're getting. An awesome, loving, mature and adorably fluffy boy. If that's what you're seeking - apply for Riot! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
