Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Miss California is a 5-month-old sweetheart who made the journey up with her sister, Miss Florida. She’s still a young pup and is working on potty training, crate training, and leash walking—but with patience and guidance, she’ll get the hang of it in no time! This gentle girl loves being around people and other dogs, though she can be a little shy at first. She just needs time and encouragement to come out of her shell and gain confidence. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality truly shines through. Miss California is looking for a loving forever home that will continue her training, help her build confidence, and give her the love and reassurance she deserves. Could that be with you? Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
