Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Deuce! Deuce is a 6–8 month old pit bull puppy, weighing in around 50 lbs, who came to us as a stray from Killeen. He’s absolutely adorable, full of personality, and has no idea how big he is — in short, a classic oversized goofball puppy who just needs someone to believe in him. Deuce didn’t get the start in life he deserved. He’s had no real structure, training, or boundaries until now, but he’s eager to learn and so happy to be with people. He’s making progress with crate training and is starting to understand pottying outside, but like any big pup, he needs consistency, patience, and clear direction. He’s great with other dogs, though he’s still learning personal space and will happily get right up in everyone’s business. He’s also good with dog-savvy cats who don’t mind a little chaos. Because of his size and energy, a home with older kidsis best. Deuce is the kind of dog who will absolutely shine in the right hands. He’s silly, sweet, and just needs someone willing to put in the work. If you’re ready for a goofy sidekick with tons of potential, Deuce is ready to meet you. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
