Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (short coat). Otto is a very handsome German Shepherd or German Shepherd mix who was found as a stray in Southern NJ. A family saw him hanging around their home for a few days and were able to catch him. They contacted several shelters in the area to report him found and walked through the neighborhood with him to see if he was anyone's dog. No one has come to claim him so we have offered to help him find a home after his stray hold is up. Unfortunately in this area of NJ there is no animal control or shelter. Otto was taken to the vet for a basic exam and vaccines. The vet estimates he is 2-3 years old. He is a sweet boy who loves his caretaker. As typical for a GSD, he can become protective of his person and will bark at strangers at first. As long as his person is happy to meet someone, he is too. Otto is dog friendly and tested well with cats (but has not lived with them). He walks pretty nicely on the leash with some pulling. Otto loves playing fetch! The family that found him has 2 young kids and Otto is very sweet with them. Otto is now up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Wag On Inn will arrange for spay/neuter and microchip at The Spay and Neuter Center of New Jersey in Holmdel. Adopters must live within driving distance of Holmdel, NJ. His adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption.
