Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. My name is Jack. My human mom passed away last year and my human brother had to move to North Carolina with family. I was unable to go with him, so I’ve been staying with family friends. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I cannot stay with them anymore. My uncle cannot take me because he already has three large dogs. I’m an eight year-old mix of several breeds. I’m a good boy, but I’ve never really been trained. I have a lot of energy, but I do have some issues with boundaries. I get along with other dogs that are close to my size, but I’m not the biggest fan of cats . I’m looking for a family that will love me the way I will them **** Breed: Mastiff mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2187261&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
