With a nose that could track a squirl from three counties away and ears that flap like victory flags in the wind, I’m a true hound at heart—loyal, loving, and endlessly optimistic. Thanks to a whole lot of kindness and connection, I found my way to LaMancha, where I got a second chance at life. And let me tell you, even with one eye, I see beauty in places most overlook. I love long walks, sniffing away at all the interesting scents, and anything that smells like bacon. I am a sweet and friendly boy who believes friendship is one of the sweetest joys in life. I want to be the one that enters your life and suddenly changes your world. Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be. I am about 60 lbs. of pure love and only 1-year-old. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
