Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed. Meet Eddie (aka Eggnog) Eddie is looking for a true companion and pack leader, not a ‘mom’ or ‘owner’. He has spent time fending for himself in the wild, and his journey has left him with some challenges. Now he desires to be part of a family to share his big capacity for love. Eddie is 8 years old, neutered, 13 lbs, up-to-date on shots, microchipped and has been diagnosed with PTSD. During rare episodes, his brain misfires, and he may lunge and attempt to bite or fully bite. These episodes vary in length and frequency. Consistent training, structure, and professional support are needed for him to continue progressing. He has begun to relax, wag his tail, and has started to play. In his calmer moments, he LOVES being petted, rolling in the grass for a back scratch, and curling up in the sun for a nap. He enjoys belly rubs and has learned to be comfortable with gentle touch all over his body. Eddie thrives in a quiet, predictable home where he can feel safe and understood. Eddie’s Favorite Things: Going for walks and new adventures (he’s an excellent car rider with his seat belt). Sunbathing on the patio. Swim therapy, which boosts his confidence. Learning new things (he’s very food-motivated!).What Eddie Needs in a Home: A calm, stable environment with no children. Ideally a single woman who can commit to his training and care. A wire crate to help him feel secure during episodes, at night, or when guests visit. Grain-free food. Patience, consistency, and a willingness to continue professional training.Eddie has lived with other dogs and cats in foster care. He would prefer being your one and only. He is house- and leash-trained. He will pee in the house at times, acting like he is still living outdoors. Most importantly, Eddie needs someone who will give him TIME — to trust, to feel safe, and to grow into the loyal, loving best friend he has the potential to be. He is not perfect, but he is deeply worth it.
