Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Pistachio is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home. Pistachio is with a partner shelter in NC hoping to come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We do offer a foster to adopt trial for approved adopters. Pistachio is friendly, sweet and low energy. He has done well meeting other dogs at the shelter. Pistachio is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. His adoption fee will be $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
