Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Pistachio is now in a NJ foster home and looking for a forever home of his own. Meet Pistachio- our calm, gentle hound mix who is as sweet as his name! This mellow boy is friendly with everyone- kids, cats and dogs alike- and has the kindest most trusting nature. He's fully house trained, quiet and easy to care for. Pistachio loves treats and is catching on quickly with basic commands. If you're looking for a relaxed, affectionate companion who'l fit right in to family life, Pistachio's your guy. Pistachio is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. His adoption fee will be $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
