Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Available for Adoption: Meet Heidi! Heidi is a very special little girl with a heartwarming story of resilience. She was rescued from a large hoarding situation up North, where over 30 dogs were living in a small mobile home. After the owner entered hospice care, the dogs were left to fend for themselves. When she first came into our rescue, Heidi was terrified—she would air bite and defecate out of fear. Fast forward to today: Heidi has blossomed into a sweet, happy, and playful pup! She's incredibly sweet, gentle, and full of love. One of her favorite ways to greet people is by offering her paw—it’s her sweet little “hello.” Heidi enjoys playing with her toys and can even entertain herself when needed. She is very smart and figures things out quickly including routine. She loves playing with her doggy friends, but her absolute favorite place is curled up right in your lap. Heidi is Crate trained, Doing amazing with potty training—goes every time she’s let out! Great with kids, cats, and other dogs Heidi has truly come a long way, and it’s been a joy fostering her. She’s ready for her forever home—could that be with you? She has had a vet visit, is spayed,, microchipped, vaccinated - DHPP x 2 (requires 2 more DHPP which is included & paid for by GTDR) Rabies & Bordetella x 2, a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), 2 dewormings, and 1 fecal test. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
