Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Meet Cedar 2-Year-Old Male, ACD Red Heeler Mix Fostered in Errol, NH If you’re looking for the perfect fall foliage adventure partner, look no further! Cedar is a 2-year-old ACD Red Heeler mix who is ready to find his forever home. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, house trained, and eager to meet his match. Cedar is incredibly smart and eager to learn. He already knows sit and paw, rides nicely in the car, and enjoys the water. True to his breed, he has that loyal “velcro dog” personality and loves being close to his person. With proper introductions, he gets along well with most dogs his size and larger and enjoys playing in typical cattle dog style - rough and mouthy. This boy is high energy and thrives with both physical and mental outlets. Hiking, trail running, or simply exploring the outdoors, Cedar is always up for the next adventure. Like many young heelers, Cedar is still learning in a few areas and will benefit from an adopter who can continue his training and provide structure. He would do best in a home without cats or small animals, as they’re just too tempting to chase. He’s shown some sensitivity around younger children, so a home with only adults or older, dog-savvy kids would be a better fit. He’s also learning to share space and food around other dogs, so thoughtful management, especially at mealtimes, is helpful. On leash, Cedar is strong and enthusiastic, and his recall is still a work in progress - he’ll need to remain leashed or in a fenced in yard to stay safe. With consistency and guidance, he’s sure to make great strides. Cedar is affectionate, intelligent, and full of personality. Whoever adopts him will be gaining not only a loyal companion but also an eager, outdoorsy best friend - just in time for crisp autumn hikes and cozy evenings at home. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
