Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet Calypso, a gentle and affectionate 1-year-old Blue Heeler mix with all the best puppy energy. She’s happiest when she’s running in the yard or when she's curled up for a nap right after. Calypso LOVES toys and keeps herself busy chewing on collagen or beef cheek rolls (she’s a big fan). She’s been great with other dogs (she adores playing outside with her German Shepherd foster sister) and has done well with cats too. While she hasn’t been around children yet, but her sweet temperament suggests she’d be a wonderful family companion. Calypso is almost fully house-trained — she’s making progress every day and just needs a little more help learning how to signal when she needs to go out. With her gentle personality, playful streak, and eagerness to learn, she’s ready to bring lots of love (and a little mischief) into her forever home If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
