Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Jules is a sweet 30 lb. terrier/lab mix pup. She is full of energy, and at six months old, loves to play, especially when retrieving a ball. She is a people, kids, and dog-friendly girl. She is an absolute sweetheart with the cutest face, athletic body, and a tail that whips around in circles when she’s happy. She thrives on praise from her humans, and she hopes you notice that she goes to the door when she wants to go outside to play or potty. She’s almost completely potty trained, with only a few accidents over the past few weeks, so not quite 100%, but she’s almost there. Jules is crate-trained, but she’d rather sleep through the night on her doggie bed. Jules is intelligent, inquisitive, and friendly. She is mastering commands and learns quickly. She can figure out food puzzles and search and find her lost ball, even after hours of rest in between play sessions. She loves the outdoors and exploring. A fenced yard would be beneficial for Jules so she can run and play. She’s beginning to enjoy our daily walks around the neighborhood, too. There aren’t too many dogs and their owners in the area that Jules doesn’t like. She cracks me up when she looks at birds flying by or an airplane. She sits and watches anything that intrigues her. She tilts her head in the cutest way as she listens to every sound. She absolutely loves her stuffed and chew toys, especially the ones that squeak. Besides chasing and retrieving a ball, another favorite pastime for Jules is car rides, so if you are a road trip kind of person or enjoy taking your pup to fun places, Jules is ready for any adventure. She jumps right in the back seat and quietly looks out the window or settles down quickly, falling asleep to the feel of the road. Overall, Jules is a fascinating pup. She has so much love to give and deserves a forever family who will play with her and, most importantly, love her. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
