Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Meet Rue - a terrier mix girl born around the end of May. Rue may have been the runt of her litter, but don’t let her tiny beginnings fool you—this sweet girl has a huge heart. She’s a gentle, shy soul who takes a little time to warm up, but once she feels safe, she’s incredibly affectionate and loyal. Now thriving in her foster home, Rue is potty trained and adjusting beautifully to home life. She does wonderfully with kids, other dogs, and even cats—making her a great addition to a multi-pet household or a family with little ones. She especially loves quiet cuddles, soft beds, and gentle encouragement. Though still gaining confidence, Rue is blossoming more each day and is expected to grow to about 25-30lbs when fully grown—just the right size for lap snuggles and adventures alike! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
