Dog Breed: Maltese / Shih Tzu / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 550. Gideon came into rescue after being surrendered by a backyard breeder who was moving. His coat was in rough shape when he arrived, and he’s also heartworm positive, but even through all that he’s shown nothing but sweetness. He’s a quiet, affectionate little guy who loves being indoors—couches, soft dog beds, and snuggle time are his favorite things. Gideon is friendly with both people and dogs, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his best friend Gianna before she embarked for her new life up north. Recently altered, Gideon may still mark as he adjusts, but otherwise he’s an easy, even-tempered companion. He enjoys car rides, likes toys, and is eager to please once he feels settled. Gideon is ready for a home that will let him soak up all the comforts he’s missed out on and give him the chance to just be the cuddly, playful dog he was always meant to be. Gideon is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/20 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and 12pm . Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
