Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Please read the bio & email the address listed in the bio. Additionally for CATS you may email JSheltoneulesstx.gov and for DOGS, email trinitygapclubgmail Meet Tanner! Tanner is an 80-pound bundle of love wrapped in a gorgeous blonde coat! This 12-month-old Mastiff/Terrier mix is the definition of a gentle giant — a big teddy bear who adores people and gets along great with other dogs. At just a year old, Tanner still has a puppy’s heart and a playful spirit. He doesn’t quite realize how big he is, so a home with kids over 10 would be best. He’s very smart and eager to please, but still learning the ropes — especially when it comes to leash manners. With a little patience and consistent training, this sweet boy will be your perfect walking buddy in no time. Did we mention his gorgeous eyes? He is so handsome! Tanner appears to be potty trained and is ready for a forever home or a loving foster who can help guide him into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
