Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Grant’s journey began on the streets of Mexico, where this young, handsome boy learned to navigate the world on his own. Even then, despite the uncertainty around him, his sweet nature and joyful spirit always shone through. When he was rescued, it didn’t take long for everyone to see just how special he is. Grant is a playful, energetic, and endlessly affectionate shepherd mix who greets every new day with enthusiasm. Whether he’s bouncing around with his favorite toys, racing his dog friends in the yard, or simply leaning in for love, his happiness is contagious. He has boundless energy and a zest for life that makes him the perfect companion for active families or anyone who enjoys outdoor adventures. Grant is the kind of dog who turns every walk into an exploration and every play session into pure joy. Now that he’s safe, loved, and ready for a fresh start, Grant is searching for the forever home he’s always deserved — one filled with fun, kindness, and plenty of room to run and play. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
