Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). MAX - 6 years old, kid/cat/dog social, typical cattle dog behavior Max is a vibrant and active boy surrendered for being too hyper and needing more room for his energy. This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move. This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move. This dog needs exercise, playtime and room to move. Reinforcing the fact that this boy is always on the move, please do some research on cattle dogs bc they, like all other breeds, have specific characteristics which may or may not align with your family's lifestyle. Max is fun. He is the one bouncing off the walls. He is ready to go at all times. He was silly in our shelter playgroup yard with the other dogs. He ran and chased and grabbed other dogs in his cattle dog style... always with a smile on his face! Max is also great with children and cats. He has some separation anxiety and is known to be destructive in the home if left alone. We recommend crating in these instances. PS He is already crate trained so there you go! If you have done your research on the breed and feel Max would fit in perfectly with you and your family, come on in to meet him! He is currently in a back kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
