Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 375.00. Please contact Sarah (bragincinfogmail) for more information about this pet. Mellow & her 3 siblings were found dumped on a country back road in Lee County VA. Their shelter is very full and euthanizing for space so the finder held onto them for the almost 3 weeks it took for a rescue (us) to step up and save them! And we are so so happy we said yes to these hound babies - even though we are a pit bull rescue! Because they are by far some of the best babies we have in rescue!!! Mellow is such a sweet girl!!! She is very playful and loves playing with the other dogs. She is quite talkative now that she is finding her voice and she definitely has the hound howling downpat! She is doing really well with house training & has not had any accidents in a few days now. She is also crate trained & stays in her crate quietly. She is getting 2 walks a day and doing great on leash! Mellow is a sweetheart who will cuddle up next to you for a nice nap - she loves being near her people. Her adoption fee is $375 and includes age appropriate vaccines, deworming, microchip and spay. To adopt go to .braginc under forms for more info email bragincinfogmail

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
