Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. Coco is such a sweet girl! She seems to be house-trained and always keeps her kennel clean. She walks nicely on leash and gets excited when it’s time to go out. Coco greets new people warmly and loves to cuddle, but she also has an independent side and can happily entertain herself. She enjoys taking her time sniffing around the yard and lounging in the sun. Coco has shown interest in dogs her size and will even play with them through the fence. Overall, she’s a well-rounded pup who will likely settle into her new home quickly—especially if she gets the princess treatment she deserves!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
