Description
Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. Owner rehome-courtesy post. This lab is not with HCHS Please contact her owner Mr Wilfong at 540-849-8351 Ava is located in Highland Co VA (Williamsville). Ava is 5y, spayed lab, housetrained, UTD on vaccinations *Note: No cats or small dogs please. Hi, I'm Ava! I love spending my days playing fetch and solving puzzles—yep, I'm quite the brainy one! I cherish my human friends and show my loyalty every chance I get. While I'm independent and enjoy a bit of me-time, I'm always up for an adventure or a cuddle session. I'm not too keen on sharing my space with smaller dogs or cats, though. If you're looking for a brave, playful companion who's also a bit of a mellow soul, I'm your girl. Let's make endless memories together! Please contact her owner Mr Wilfong at 540-849-8351 Ava is located in Highland Co VA (Williamsville).

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
