Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Heading into fall, this little baby boy, Teddy, wishes to be exactly that, a Teddy bear, cuddled up on your lap and loved under the safety and warmth of your fuzzy covers. Although he is the perfect teddy bear size, and a professional foot warmer, what he desires most is the love, kindness and comfort of his forever family. This adorable 15lb, 3 years young, chihuahua terrier mix had a rough start in life, and it is clear that kindness wasn’t part of the equation. So he is sending out a wish for a patient adopter, with a fenced in yard, and another pup for companionship, who is willing to welcome him home. Teddy is understandably scared of new people, and it takes time to learn to trust them. With another pup companion to lean on he will open up much quicker and imitate their trusting behavior. Teddy will slowly come around, but it takes time, patience, and maybe a few little treats. Teddy no longer flinches when his foster mom pets him, and although he still frequently dances away, he always comes back for a little sniff or a tender lick. Most important, a soft and sensitive approach goes a long way. Teddy loves to curl up under cozy blankets where he doesn’t have to make eye contact. With a fenced in yard and another pup in the house, who lets him pretend he’s the boss, his shy demeanour magically turns into confidence and joy as they run and zoom through the yard together. His playful puppy nature is sure to keep you smiling and entertained! Teddy is house trained, knows what it means to “kennel up”, knows how to sit, loves going on walks and really enjoys playing with toys and other dogs, as long as he can be the boss. Since Teddy does not enjoy being left alone for long periods of time he would do best with an owner who has plenty of time at home, patience and another dog for him to lean on.
