Dog Breed: Husky / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat). This is a courtesy listing for a Chi Town Rescue supporter and friend who is looking to rehome a Husky in her care named Nova. Nova was found as a stray about a year ago, severely malnourished and very dirty. He had part of a leash wrapped around his neck that was chewed off; as if he had been tied up and chewed his way to freedom. Nova ran up to his current owner while he was walking into work. They have been trying to integrate him into their pack of small and big dogs, as well as cats. Nova does great with the larger dogs in the home (two Pit Bulls) but is becoming increasingly unpredictable with the cats and smaller animals. Nova's owners have made the difficult decision to try to find him a new home, in order to keep their small animals safe. Nova is a fun, friendly, and goofy guy who is very much HUSKY (including that Husky "woo-woo" bark!). He has a lot of energy and enjoys some sort of daily activity, be it a walk, a bike ride, or even a trip to Home Depot to work on his commands. Nova walks well on the leash and rides well in the car. He has been to basic training and knows "sit," "down," and "stay". He is also trained with the prong-collar, and house-trained with a doggy door. Nova enjoys play-wrestling with his big dog pals, chewing on toys/bones, and zooming around the backyard. He is very friendly with people and enjoys attention and pets from his humans. Nova does have issues sharing food and treats and should be kept separate during meal-times and when giving bones/treats. He would do best in a home with no small children (when excited, he can be mouthy) and no small animals. He will also need a home with a secure yard and a family who is willing to provide him with plenty of exercise.
