DARCY - CHIHUAHUA DOG FOR ADOPTION

Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Darcy is a spunky little lady with a lot of playful energy who also loves a good snuggle. She can be timid at first, but she warms up and finds her confidence quickly. She gets frequent cases of the zoomies and loves to run around with our other dogs, but is equally happy snuggling up in your lap (or on your shoulders) on the couch. She is a 100% good girl! Energy Level? Medium House trained? Mostly, with some accidents Describe how they are on a leash? She is still learning to walk on a leash. Still pretty timid outside the home. Describe how they are with other dogs? Darcy is very playful and gets along well with her foster dog siblings. She can be a little territorial and competitive for her people's attention, but overall, she gets along very well. She would do well in a house with another dog or dogs to play with. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? Darcy has only had one brief encounter with a cat, but we suspect she would do well. Commands they know? Darcy comes when called. She understands, no What are their favorite things? Pets, snuggles, toys, zoomies, and chewing. What do they need to work on? Darcy is still in her chewing phase. She will need lots of safe chew toys, unsafe items out of reach, and patience while she figures out what she can and can't chew. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? Darcy stays in her crate while we are away, positioned so that she can see our other dogs in their crates. She will howl when we first leave, but she settles down shortly after. She has been alone for up to 8 hours while we work. Where do they sleep? She likes to sleep in her crate with the door open so she can get to us if she needs us. She will sometimes join us in the big bed for morning snuggles and would love a home where she's welcome on the bed. What is their ideal home? Darcy loves to give love and would make a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a loving partner who is ready to shower her with affection. She would do well in a home with another dog or two, and suspect she would do fine with cats with proper introductions. She's great with children, too, and lives with three children in her foster family, ages 5, 7, and 9. She is also very friendly with visitors. She will need patience and time to gain her confidence outside of the home and on walks.
