Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Hustle is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, weighing about 40 pounds. He may be small for his breed, but he's bursting with energy and thrives on movement--whether it's running, hiking, or playing with other dogs. Left behind in boarding by his previous owner, Hustle is still learning to trust. He can be shy at first, but with patience and love, his loyal nature shines through. He is fully vaccinated and looking for a dedicated person who can offer the time, training, and care he needs to feel safe and confident. If you're ready to earn the trust of a truly devoted companion, Hustle is waiting to meet you. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Hustle is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
