Name: Dovey Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 2.5 years as of September 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 41.2 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Puerto Rico shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Dovey would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure shecan go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Dovey is Looking For: Her forever home! Dovey is a sato from Puerto Rico who has enjoyed island life but can't wait to get to the DC area to get her own humans. Long sniffy walks, romps in the park, all the adventures with her new family - she can't wait to explore her new territory! The shelter says she loves people, loves playing and roughhousing with other dogs, and would definitely appreciate meeting all those new people and pup pals! Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises so many adoring gazes, all the love in her body, and loyal companionship for all her days.
