Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Maddy Karon (maddykluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. young boy ISO happily ever after! WALLEN NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Wallen Best Guess for Breed: Terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 9.5 months as of mid-September 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 37 lbs as of 9/7/25 - he likely has a bit more to grow! Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Foster home connected with a rural shelter - needs a home in the DC area to get here! Wallen is Looking For: All the good stuff that comes with being a well loved family dog! Lots of snuggles with his humans, sniffy walks and romps and world exploration! And definitely opportunities to make pup pals - he's got so much love for other dogs too! He's got that awesome "Hi! Isn't life great! Wanna go play? Not today? Ok, let's cuddle then" vibe - just has that energy for life. An active home would be perfect for him - he and his humans will be very lucky to have each other! What Shelter Staff and My Shelter Foster Say About Me: Wallen is a pup who has it all, good looks, intelligence and a great personality! He quickly learned to sit in the shelter for treats and is now perfecting a default Sit in his foster home. He has also learned terms like "Go to bed" and "Hungry?" and is learning more every day. Wallen has really thrived with a routine and consistency. He enjoys going for walks and for adventures in the car. He absolutely loves other dogs! He is currently living with 2 senior dogs and he's doing well at respecting their space. He's also slowly winning over the young, fearful dog in the home and has learned to adjust his playstyle to the other dog's style to win him over! He loves to be as close as possible to humans and cuddles any chance he can. Wallen's foster mom works from home and he has been a great coworker. He entertains himself with his toys and naps while she works. He will make an amazing companion for anyone who sees the great dog he is now and the even more great dog he will become every day as his new humans continue the training all young dogs need! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
